Luxury Along With Convenience – Buick Rendezvous
General Motors launched the Buick Rendezvous in the year 2002. Generally, a lot of sports utility vehicles have many disadvantages. They cannot be driven on any roads unless they are perfectly smooth, their seating capacity is very low and the seating height too is less. In an attempt to correct all these features, the Buick Rendezvous was launched.
It was designed in such a way that all the features of a wagon, a luxury automobile and a sports utility vehicle were incorporated in it. It had several innovative features such as, an independent rear suspension system, Versatrack- a four wheel driving system that provides for easy motion even in times of bad weather conditions and a seating capacity of five to seven depending on the need to name some. It was manufactured from the year 2002 to the year 2007.
The 2004 Buick Rendezvous came with several additional features. It had a more efficient a 3350 cc 3.6 L V6 engine. It was offered in five different models- CX, CX Plus, CXL, CXL Plus, and Ultra. Buick Rendezvous Ultra was newly launched which like the other models had a 3.5L V6 engine offering an improved 250 hp along with good interiors and a security system. It had a height of 68.9 inches and the rear view light was reduced by two inches in all models.
The Buick Rendezvous was originally priced at $26,420 – $29,610 according to the model offered. A satellite radio and dvd entertainment system were offered as options. It had fuel economy of 18-19 mpg on the city roads and 24-26 mpg on highways.
From 2007 the production of Buick Rendezvous stopped and as such the latest Rendezvous model in the current 2009 market of Buick is the 2007 version. Only the CX and CXL trims versions were made available. It had a rear park assist system which could detect obstacles while parking. Only front wheel drive was made possible in these models.
The CXL version was equipped with mahogany wheels which were offered as an option in the CX model. It has a fuel economy of 19 mpg on city roads and 26 mpg on highways. The prices ranged from $25,190 – $28,765.The engine was a 3498 cc 3.5 L V6 offering 195 hp.
Though some of the features of the Buick were not accepted by many customers, it still is a good option when it comes to spacious interiors, comfort and fuel economy and as such it still has a market.
